Go UKansas!
(Yeah, I know it goes by KU, but enough folk on my Friends list probably don't that I wanted to get Kansas in the Subject:)

Next semester, it will offer a course in the Religious Studies dept. titled Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationism and other Religious Mythologies.

One good quote from the article:

“The KU faculty has had enough,” said Paul Mirecki, department chairman. “Creationism is mythology. Intelligent design is mythology. It’s not science. They try to make it sound like science. It clearly is not.”

And one quote that would have me interviewing candidates to replace KU's chancellor if it's accurate and complete:

“If it’s a course that’s being offered in a serious and intellectually honest way, those are the kind of courses a university frequently offers,”

Nice almost content-free statement there...not to mention that "frequently" implies the university regularly has course offerings that are intellectually dishonest and not serious.

At KU? Oh noes!!1!

Despite my natural animosity toward Lawrence's university and its mascot, the miscolored chicken with the thyroid problem, this sounds like a great class, even if its course description was surgically designed to get under the fingernails of the state school board....

There has, predictably, been a shitstorm over this. And the university's response that some of the more bitchy comments by the professor weren't meant for public consumption comes across as hella-lame.
